92 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2020 Meursault Le Pièce Sous Le Bois 1er Cru comes from a parcel owned by the Pernot family that was regrafted from red varieties in 2000. It has a finely-tuned nose with traces of grilled walnut and almond scents, needing a little encouragement from the glass, not a million miles away from a Genevrières in style. The palate is feisty, a bit of a wild child and there is nothing wrong with that. Good weight and plenty of spice towards the finish that gets the saliva flowering. I could imagine this with Asian cuisine. Drink: 2023-2036. (Dec 2021)"

92 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Pretty mid lemon colour. The nose is slightly more angular than the village Pulignys. Then a little touch of flesh behind, taking the oak well, while keeping some grapefruit character. Interesting personality throughout. Tasted: October 2021. (Dec 2021)"

92 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Aromas of citrus zest, white flowers, freshly baked bread and crisp orchard fruit introduce the 2020 Meursault 1er Cru La Pièce sous le Bois, a medium to full-bodied, ample and mineral wine that's seamless and enveloping, concluding with a mouthwateringly saline finish. It has turned out well. Drink: 2021-2038. (Jan 2022)"

Bill Nanson (Burgundy Report): "(Domain, young vines.) A narrower nose but of super depth – perhaps a faint reduction adding to this depth. Exciting, mineral, so juicy – full of energy – just a hint more austere today than the Pernot version. Bravo! (12/23/21)"

Made from the Pernot family's highest elevation vineyards, and situated, just as the name suggests, just below the forest that caps the Montmellian hill separating Meursault from Auxey-Duresses.
