Paul Bara's Comtesse Marie de France is 100% Pinot Noir from a single parcel in Bouzy, and comes entiredly from grand cru vineyards. It is produced only in the very best years, and comes from one of their oldest vineyards around 55 years of age, located mid-slope giving perfect roundness and balance. It is aged for nine years on lees and is finished with a brut dosage of 8 g/L. This wonderfully mature champagne reveals a deep and structured nose of juicy fruits, such as yellow peach and overripe apple. Candied notes verging on honey and fresh baking aromas then appear, with a delicious hint of praline and nougatine. Tasty and full in the mouth, with more of the pleasing aromas of the nose, as well as a hint of citrus peel and a slight peppery touch on the finish.
