95 points La Revue du Vin de France: "Complex, Butteaux diffuses a contagious but soothing energy, bursting with flavors of white and yellow fruits: a delight! (2022)"

93-95+ points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Aromas of oatmeal and beeswax mingling with notions of ripe lemons, flowers and oyster shells in an incipiently complex bouquet introduce the 2017 Chablis 1er Cru Butteaux Mise Tardive, a medium to full-bodied, deep and layered wine with a fleshy core, chewy dry extract and a chalky finish. Pico told me that it will see 24 months on the lees before it's bottled. (Aug 2019)"

93-95 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2017 Chablis Butteaux 1er Cru is bright and floral, with striking aromatic lift to play off the rich, dense fruit. Bright saline notes give the wine energy, tension and structure. Time in the glass brings out more tropical notes. This is a wine of extraordinary precision, lift and verve as well as tremendous aromatic presence. (Jan 2020)"

94 points Tim Atkin, MW (Decanter): "After the losses in 2016, it's good to see some wine in Thomas Pico's cellar. This biodynamic premier cru won't be on the market for a few years but has lots of potential, with peach and tangerine notes alongside refreshing acidity. Drinking Window: 2020-2026. (Jul 2018)"

93 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2017 Chablis Butteaux 1er Cru, matured in barrels and demi-muids and bottled in June 2020, has an intriguing bouquet of candle wax, green olive, white peach and crushed stone aromas. The palate is spicy on the entry, with stem ginger and a pinch of white pepper; then orange peel and dried honey take over through the middle and finish, which display fine salinity and poise. This should drink well for the next decade. Drink: 2022-2032. (Oct 2021)"

92-93 points James Suckling: "Just racked from barrel to tank. This is right on the yellow grapefruit with flinty chalky reduction. The palate has white peaches, hazelnuts and grapefruit. Bright fleshy and good concentration of fruit and acidity here. Drink or hold. (7/20/18)"
