94 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "Out of the blocks, the difference between the 2014 and 2015 versions of Grands Épenots chez Gaunoux is quite small, but I would not be surprised to see the distance widen a bit with several decades of cellaring. The 2014 Grands Épenots is still properly reserved on the palate, but the nose is already beautifully expressive, wafting from the glass in a mix of plums, cherries, woodsmoke, gamebird, complex soil tones and a lovely touch of cocoa in the upper register. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and shows off beautiful depth in the core, with fine-grained tannins, impeccable focus and grip and a very long, very pure and promising finish. This is still a puppy and will need plenty of bottle age, but it will be outstanding when it is ready to drink. 2030-2075. (Nov/Dec 2017)"

93+ points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2014 Pommard 1er Cru Les Grands Epenots will also require some patience. Revealing a pretty bouquet of wild berries, plum compote and flowers, it's fragrant and delicate on the nose, followed by a medium to full-bodied, pure and fine-grained palate built around a beautifully defined line of ripe acids. It's less dramatic and voluminous than the 2015 rendition, but it is similarly carrying a notable structural chassis—perhaps emphasized by the hail that impacted this vintage—that will require a decade of bottle age to melt away. Drink: 2024-2050. (Oct 2018)"

92 points and 'Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a large 1.74 ha parcel). Here the nose is at once both more complex than the Beaune as well as much earthier with its ripe yet airy combination of red and dark currant along with subtle spice nuances. Interestingly, there is also a finer mouth feel to the bigger, richer and more powerful medium-bodied flavors that possess a relatively seductive mouth feel to the dusty, firm, well-balanced and impressively long finish. This is lovely though note that at least moderate patience will be required. Drink: 2026+. (Apr 2017)"
