93 points Eric Guido (Vinous): "The 2019 Double Lucky #8 is smoky in the glass, smoldering up with notes of olive tapenade, musky black currants and rosemary. It’s silky-smooth and supple on the palate, with brisk acidity, enlivening its dark fruits, as saline-tinged minerals add contrast. This leaves salted licorice and hints of sweet spice tapering off with a lovely freshness. While I don’t see the 2019 as a wine for long-term cellaring, it should perform beautifully over the next five to six years. That said, there’s a lot of balanced pleasure to be found here already. The Double Lucky #8 is primarily Grenache with a balance of Syrah and Tempranillo. Drink: 2023-2028. (Mar 2023)"
92 points Anthony Mueller (Wine Advocate): "The 2019 Double Lucky #8 is black and red-fruited, with a spicy note of cured meat and lavender flowing from the glass along with a delightful mineral essence. Medium to full-bodied, the wine is broadly-layered and possesses fine-grained tannins and succulent acidity, making me crave charcuterie. The gorgeous wine will remain food-friendly for years and ends with a lingering, spicy grip. Drink: 2023-2030. (Oct 2022)"
92 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2019 Double Lucky is cut from the same cloth, offering a charming, medium-bodied, delicious style as well as bright black cherry and currant fruits, notes of leafy herbs, peppery spice, and scorched earth, ripe, silky tannins, and a great finish. It's another gorgeous, seamless, elegant wine that has real character and depth. Drink: 2022-2025. (7/9/22)"
