92-94 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Cardeuse opens in the glass with scents of peonies, violets, plums, wild berries, dark chocolate and baking spices. Medium to full-bodied, lively and perfumed, it's bright and fine-boned, with a pretty core of fruit and fine, powdery tannins. (Jan 2022)"

92 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2020 la Cardeuse bottling from Alex Moreau is another lovely, svelte and black fruity example of the vintage. The wine delivers a complex aromatic constellation of dark berries, cassis, espresso, a touch of balsam bough, a fine base of dark soil tones, gamebird, a dollop of new oak and plenty of upper register smokiness. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, young and classy, with a rock solid core, excellent mineral drive and grip, fine-grained tannins and lovely balance on the long, focused and promising finish. 2033-2075. (Nov/Dec 2021)"

90-92 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "13.2% alcohol, 20% new wood 50+% whole bunch vinification. Glowing fresh purple black. A beautiful nose, more classic than the village wine, scarcely any cooked fruit. All in red fruit on the palate, dark raspberry rather than cherry, long and fine with correct tannins. (Dec 2021)"

90-92 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet La Cardeuse 1er Cru offers bold blackberry and black plum aromas on the nose, the 50-60% whole cluster neatly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, quite rigid at first, very saline with a slightly chalky-textured finish that lends freshness. Excellent. Drink: 2024-2045. (Dec 2021)"
