95 points Wine Spectator: "[$78 list] This red finds terrific equilibrium between the ripe cherry, strawberry and floral notes, with firm structure and a supple texture. Tobacco and mineral elements chime in, though this still needs time to resolve the youthful tannins. Very vibrant and refined. Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Colorino. Best from 2022 through 2040. 1,300 cases made, 60 cases imported. (9/30/20)"

94+ points Monica Larner (Wine Advocate): "The Monteraponi 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva Il Campitello is a gorgeous wine that delivers both power and elegance. These are two seemingly opposite characteristics that, in truth, complement each other beautifully, especially in the classic vintages such as this. Dark cherry fruit and forest berry are followed by light touches of wild rose and fresh potting soil. The wine is authentic and pure. It transports you to this beautiful corner of Tuscany with rolling hills and thick shrub brush, home to wild boar and roe dear. This wine will become more silky and streamlined with more bottle aging, and the wait will be absolutely worth it. Drink: 2020-2035. (Sep 2019)"

94 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva Il Campitello is dark, powerful and super-expressive. Black cherry, plum, spice, leather, licorice and menthol infuse this decidedly brooding, potent Riserva. A touch of new oak adds sweetness without being intrusive. Ample and strapping in feel, the 2016 could use a few more years in bottle to be at its best, but it is super-impressive, even today. Drink: 2022-2036. (Aug 2019)"

93 points James Suckling: "A finely textured red with sweet berries and hints of spice and dried herbs. Medium body. Fresh, clean finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold. (11/7/19)"
