95 points and 'Editors' Choice,' Wine Enthusiast: "This winery's bottlings manage to pack bright, fruity energy and a wide array of herbs and seasonings into the same lithe frame. In this case, sagebrush and chaparral meet candied red cherry and dark pomegranate on the nose. The palate shows lots of oregano, thyme and bay leaf against a ripe cranberry base, with touches of black tea and rosehip adding to the complexity. Alcohol 14.5%. (Feb 2017)"
Producer notes: "Possessing a hue redolent of burgundy stained glass, dark fruit aromatics of goji berry, black cherry compote and plum skin dominate up front. On the palate, more subtle components of fennel seed, green tea and mustard powder mingle with impressions of pie crust and cedar. Lush and velvety in texture, with powerful tannins that frame a refined and delicate finish. Aged in neutral barrels (10-20 year old French oak). 30% whole cluster fermentation. Alcohol 14.5%. 929 cases produced."
