94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Coming from vines around the estate, the 2017 Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills is based on a mix of clones and was 60% destemmed and brought up all in totally neutral oak. It’s a classic Melville Pinot Noir that jumps from the glass with its spiced red and black fruits, dried flower, marine-like salinity, bay leaf, and forest floor aromas and flavors. Balanced, medium-bodied, and elegant on the palate, with light tannins and nicely integrated acidity, it can be drunk today or cellared for a decade. Drink: 2020-2030. (May 2020)"
91 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "[$38 list] The 2017 Pinot Noir Estate is a very pretty, open-knit wine that captures the essence of the Melville house style. Holiday spice cake, dried cherry, blood orange and floral overtones all take shape in an exotic, beautifully perfumed Pinot that can be enjoyed with minimal cellaring. The Estate is a blend of 17 clones, which no doubt adds to the wine's layers of complexity. Drink: 2020-2029. (Aug 2020)"
