Importer notes: "Gallura is a peninsula on the northeast corner of the island of Sardinia that specializes in Vermentino (the grape is also grown on the coast of mainland Italy, on Corsica and in the south of France under the name Rolle). Mancini's version of the grape is very fresh and forward, made with no oak or malolactic fermentation, just grapejuice fermented at low temperature in stainless steel for the aromas. Pale yellow color; aroma of peach, tangerine and herbs; medium-weight in the mouth, with bright acidity; very clean, good length, finishes with a touch of tangerine. Drink either as an aperitif or with seafood (prawns with pasta?)."
Not yet reviewed; 2019 vintage rated 90 points by Eric Guido (Vinous): "The 2019 Vermentino di Gallura presents a seductive bouquet of ripe peaches and pears offset by hints of brown spice and white smoke. It’s medium-bodied yet deeply textural, ushering in a soothing wave of ripe orchard fruits, motivated by a core of juicy acidity. Nothing is out of place in this harmonious Vermentino as it finishes savory, salty and bristling with underlying tension. Give the 2019 another year of cellaring, and then enjoy with abandon. Drink: 2022-2025."
