96 points Anne Krebiehl, MW (Wine Enthusiast): "[$55 list] Fresh tangerine and Mandarin notes dance on the nose and continue right onto the palate. Here, they are joined by a bright, vivid streak of lemon freshness that makes the senses tingle and the mouth water. This is streamlined but luminous, straight-laced but frivolous and wonderfully profound. The tangerine length on the finish is astonishing. Alcohol 13%. (Mar 2021)"

95 points Stephan Reinhardt (Wine Advocate): "From a northeast-facing terrace built by the Ur-Donau River, the 2019 Furth Ried Silberbichl 1ÖTW Kremstal Riesling is intense in its lemon color and on the nose, which displays a crunchy, stony tone intermixed with elegant, ripe and well-concentrated (stone) fruit aromas. Round, refined and elegant on the palate, this is a fruity and charming but also vital and finely mineral Silberbichl with a long and intense yet well-balanced and playful finish. 13% alcohol. Tasted at Schloss Gobelsburg in June 2021. Tasted again in Grafenegg in early September, the Silberbichl Riesling was clear, intense and spicy on the elegant and refined but also dense and crystalline nose. Juicy, round and refined on the palate, this is a very elegant, salty-piquant and sustainable dry Riesling with the rare Malat purity and finesse. Very stimulating and promising. (Dec 2021)"

94 points Stuart Pigott (JamesSuckling.com): "Full of yellow-fruit aromas, ranging from lemons to peaches, but also well-structured and elegant, this is a sophisticated, medium-bodied dry riesling. Long, racy finish with a lot of mineral power. Drink or hold. (9/2/20)"

Importer notes: "The middle-aged vines of this wine average 35 years of age and are grown on gradual terraces of loamy loess soils and mica schist with a northeastern aspect. Like most of the top range of wines from Michael Malat, this Riesling from Silberbichl (which translates to Silver hill) is fermented in stainless steel with natural yeasts before being racked into large 2,000-liter wood casks. Easily the most mineral-driven wine in the range (and charming as hell), this elegant wine is layered with aromas of mint, exotic green and blue fruits, and notes of sweet watermelon rind, green melon, and kiwi that leap from the glass. On the palate, a range of early-ripening strawberries, red currant, lemon juice, lemon thyme, chervil, and yarrow add to the appeal of the wine. Perfectly amare and mouth-coating, the finish rests long on the mid- and back-palates, mercilessly drilling into the back of the mouth. After some time in the glass, the wine reveals unripe yellow plums, peach pit, and preserved lemon that deepen the wine’s complex range of pleasantries. This is Austria’s spring in a bottle."
