On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, bright and lively, with fine cut and tension. Magnien observes that he routinely green harvests in this climat to control yields. (Feb 2020)"

He notes that you have to keep the crop down or you miss the flesh and it goes rustic. More power less finesse here, a tightly structured finish and very long. Tasted: November 2019."

91-93 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Estournelles Saint-Jacques 1er Cru comes from 0.33 hectares of 50-year-old vines. On the floral nose, incense and pressed iris flowers infuse sensual red fruit that turns "bluer" with aeration. The palate is very smooth and harmonious, with saturated tannins, well-judged acidity and a very cohesive, slightly powdery-textured finish that lingers long in the mouth. Superb. Drink: 2022-2036.
