91 points David Schildknecht (Vinous): "Vintage 2013 was a challenging one to be sure. But Ludes took the remarkable step of bottling only this one cuvée, based largely on the same parcel of vines that generated his 2017 Ritsch trocken. With an astonishing 12 grams of acidity but just 14 grams of residual sugar, to refer to it as anything other than 'dry' is misleading. Julian Ludes passed along what his uncle Hermann related: 'At the annual spring festival of new wines in the village, all the other growers asked me, ‘How can you plan to bottle a sour thing like that?’ and I said, ‘It’s not for drinking right now.’' Moss and wet stone on the nose present a slightly dank impression. But on the palate, there is a delightfully cooling green herbal infusion accompanying moss and smoky peat. The feel is firm but 9.5% alcohol renders the overall effect extremely delicate. Lime and apple serve for infectious juiciness and consummate refreshment on a finish invigoratingly tinged with apple seed piquancy and remarkably transparent to alkaline, wet stone and shimmeringly crystalline nuances. Julian and Hermann Ludes think this has five more good years in it. I am beginning to doubt my conservative prognostications when it comes to their wines. Drink:2020-2024. (Apr 2020)"
