92-95 points Fine Wine Review: "The Morey 1er Cru vieilles vignes shows more flesh although the wine is still medium-weight. The wine is penetrating and intense with dark fruits. As usual, it is a special wine. (Issue #141; 2014)"

94 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The old vines here were planted in the same year as the oldest vines in the Morey AC bottling- 1936. The 2012 version is going to be a legendary effort for this wine, as it offers up a deep, pure and utterly superb nose of black cherries, plums, cocoa, gamebirds, dark soil tones, woodsmoke, mustard seed and a deft framing of new wood. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and rock solid at the core, with ripe, utterly suave tannins, great focus and grip, tangy acids and stunning length on the perfectly balanced and very soil-driven finish. Great juice! 2022-2055. (Nov/Dec 2013)"

93+ points Stephen Tanzer (Vinous): "(12.8% alcohol; Laurent chaptalized this wine a bit to get more glycerol; like the Riotte and Chaffots, it was vinified with 20% to 25% whole clusters in 2012 ): Saturated deep red. Reticent aromas of dark raspberry, wild strawberry, mocha and spices. Rich and complex, offering noteworthy sappy density to the flavors of boysenberry, licorice and spices. Energized by beautifully integrated acidity. The Riotte will give pleasure earlier, but this very primary wine is denser and purer, and shows an exhilarating urgency to its fruit. Finishes vibrant and long, with very fine-grained tannins. Perfectly judged extraction here: a superb vintage for this consistently satisfying cuvée. Drink: 2024-2035. (Mar 2015)"
