93 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The les Baudes vineyard was one of the best-situated in 2016, as the frost did not generally affect this vineyard and the Ligniers’ parcel was not touched at all. The wine has turned out very pure and very classic in profile, offering up a superb aromatic constellation of black cherries, dark chocolate, gamebird, dark soil tones, woodsmoke and a nice touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and ripely tannic, with a fine core, impressive backend minerality and very good grip on the long and focused finish. All this needs is bottle age to blossom. 2026-2075. (Nov/Dec 2017)"

90-94 points Fine Wine Review: "The Charmes-Chambertin is raised in a cask that is one year-old — no new wood on this wine. It has dark and red raspberry fruit with a bit of syrup quality to it. The wine is powerful, long, elegant, and fresh. (8/6/19)"

93 points CellarTracker.com community score.

90-93 points Stephen Tanzer (Vinous): "(the estate only lost 20% of its normal production here): Bright ruby-red. Deeper, riper yet somehow airy aromas of black raspberry, crushed rock and flowers. Suave, concentrated, fine-grained wine with sharply delineated flavors of raspberry, licorice and wild herbs. A very elegant, sappy, youthfully reticent Chambolle with fine-grained tannins and terrific persistence. And a step up in class from the preceding village wines. (Jan 2018)"

92 points William Kelley (Decanter): "The Baudes is beautiful, bursting with aromas of ripe cherry, plum, raw cocoa, rosehip and subtle spice. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, glossy and elegant, with a fine but firm chassis of tannin and a sweet, deep core of succulent fruit. Drinking Window: 2026-2045. (Oct 2017)"
