93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2016 L'Evangile Blason de l'Evangile is another brilliant second wine that delivers the goods. Showing a more upfront, fruit-loaded, opulent style, it gives up tons of cassis fruits, tobacco, incense, dried herbs, and graphite. With no hard edges, a full-bodied, rounded, sexy texture, and a great finish, it's a sexy, sexy Pomerol to drink over the coming 10-15 years, if not longer. Drink: 2019-2034. (2/28/19)"

93 points Chris Kissack (The Wine Doctor): "The second wine of Château L’Évangile, this comes from young vines, those aged between three and 15 years, the result of relatively recent replanting. There are also some older vines which, because of their location, don’t go into the grand vin. In this vintage it accounts for 40% of the crop, with 35% to 45% the norm. The blend is 74% Merlot and 26% Cabernet Franc, and the élevage was in second-fill barrels (from the 2014 vintage), with no new oak. The wine rested there for 13 to 15 months. A lovely savoury nose, with smoky and lightly grilled fruits, very true to the style of its big brother. It has a palate of lightly degraded berries, fresh and polished, all wrapped in tobacco leaves and spiced leather, with chalk dust and a little toast. It is peppery, spicy, with a full tannic core that will see this evolve nicely over a decade or so, during which time it should give some delightful drinking. Good. (12/1/18)"

93 points James Suckling: "There’s pretty decadence and richness to the second wine of L’Evangile with chocolate, meat and spicy character. Very deep sweetness of fruit. Medium body, ripe and round tannins and a flavorful finish. Drink after 2023, but already delicious. (2/3/19)"

92 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2016 Blason de L'Évangile is bold and racy, with remarkable depth for a second wine. Supple, fruit and easygoing, the 2016 will give readers immense pleasure over the next handful of years. Floral notes and red berry fruit carry the Blason nicely. Blason is built on a core of young-vine Merlot, with 26% Cabernet Franc in the blend. The 2016 spent 14 months in once-used barrels. Drink: 2018-2026. (Jan 2019)"

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "[$75 list] This perfumed wine holds attractive Cabernet Franc that adds structure to the Merlot. Rich with tannins and full of juicy fruit, the wine is already soft and open. It has fruitiness as well as a structure that will allow it to age over the medium term. Drink from 2022. Alcohol 14%. (May 2019)"
