92-95 points Fine Wine Review: "From the part of Pitures formerly known as Chanlins and by the Pommard border, this is a wine with plenty of structure, good depth, and lovely cassis and red cherry fruit. (2/10/20)"

92-94 points Jasper Morris, MW: "3 barrels this year, to be bottled only in magnum, as has been their habit since the first vintage (2015). Fine mid purple, with some sensuality but also a stricter style of Volnay. Notable tannins behind, still a little fresh acidity but the fruit suffuses both. Some alpine strawberry and a little ripe orange zest. Long Finish. (Nov 2019)"

92-94 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2018 Volnay Les Pitures 1er Cru, which is only bottled in magnums, has wonderful detail and precision on a nose of black cherries and hints of cassis mixed with incense and iris petals. The medium-bodied palate delivers supple tannins. Fleshy and generous, with a gentle grip on the linear and slightly meaty finish. Superb. Drink: 2022-2045. (Jan 2020)"

91-94 points/'Sweet spot/Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a small .15 ha holding; since 2015, this is bottled exclusively in magnum). An airy and markedly floral nose grudgingly reveals spicy notes of both red and dark currant, spice and plenty of earth character. There is good richness to the vibrant and overtly mineral-driven medium-bodied flavors that retain fine delineation on the elegant, dusty and well-balanced if very tightly wound finish. This excellent broad-shouldered effort is going to require extended cellaring and particularly so in large format. Drink: 2038+. (Apr 2020)"

93+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "With all of the beautifully red fruity wines chez Lafarge in 2018, I was surprised to see just how black fruity both the Pitures and the Mitans have turned out, but this is the signature fruit tones of both of these terroirs. The 2018 Pitures in a lovely wine in the making, delivering a fine nose of dark berries, black cherries, venison, espresso, dark soil tones and a bit of bonfire. On the palate the wine is deep, black fruity and complex, with excellent soil signature, plenty of sappy fruit at the core, fine-grained tannins and a long, poised and promising finish. 2032-2065. (Nov/Dec 2019)"

93 points Tim Atkin, MW (Decanter): "Only sold in magnums for some reason, but I'd be more than happy to drink 1.5 litres of this wine with a few friends. Les Pitures is a relatively high-altitude site on white soils close to Pommard and has produced a typically refreshing, racy wine in 2018, with some vanilla spice from 20% new woo, sinewy tannins and a refreshing lift of chalky acidity. Drinking Window: 2024-2030. (Oct 2018)"
