The 2016 here is outstanding, wafting from the glass in a complex aromatic blend of cherries, a touch of strawberries, raw cocoa, pigeon, a beautiful, complex base of soil tones and plenty of Caillerets spice tones in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very suave on the attack, with a fine core of pure fruit, outstanding soil signature and a very, very long, ripely tannic and impeccably balanced finish. 2028-2065. It has a drop dead gorgeous bouquet with shimmering red berry fruit, so effervescent with hints of blood orange and freshly sliced tangerines. Underneath all that is wonderful mineralité. The palate is very well balanced with a pitch perfect opening, tensile from the very start with layers of tart red fruit, just a subtle savory note surfacing toward the finish. Half as much but almost as good as the brilliant 2015 Caillerets. Drink: 2018-2040. (Dec 2017)"
