92-95 points and 'Don't miss!/Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a parcel measuring 7ouvrées, or around .3 ha of 40+ year old vines). A markedly spicy and exuberantly fresh nose blends elegant red and blue currant, plum and violet nuances together to serve as a refined introduction to the detailed and tension-filled mineral-driven flavors that possess a highly sophisticated mouth feel before terminating in a superbly complex, well-balanced and impressively lingering finish. This is class in a glass. Drink: 2028+. (Apr 2018)"

91-95 points Fine Wine Review: "The Caillerets has floral and red fruit aromas. In the mouth, the wine displays the usual finesse and Caillerets texture. The wine is light on the palate, pure, and penetrating with dark fruits. (Oct 2017)"

94 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2016 Caillerets chez Lafarge is supremely elegant out of the blocks this year, which I always take as a very good sign for its future evolution, as Caillerets can sometimes be a bit sauvage in its very early days. The 2016 here is outstanding, wafting from the glass in a complex aromatic blend of cherries, a touch of strawberries, raw cocoa, pigeon, a beautiful, complex base of soil tones and plenty of Caillerets spice tones in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very suave on the attack, with a fine core of pure fruit, outstanding soil signature and a very, very long, ripely tannic and impeccably balanced finish. 2028-2065. (Nov/Dec 2017)"

92-94 points Neal Martin (Wine Advocate): "The 2016 Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets lost half its crop due to frost damage, something that even Michel Lafarge himself could not remember over decades of winemaking. It has a drop dead gorgeous bouquet with shimmering red berry fruit, so effervescent with hints of blood orange and freshly sliced tangerines. Underneath all that is wonderful mineralité. The palate is very well balanced with a pitch perfect opening, tensile from the very start with layers of tart red fruit, just a subtle savory note surfacing toward the finish. Half as much but almost as good as the brilliant 2015 Caillerets. Drink: 2018-2040. (Dec 2017)"

93 points William Kelley (Decanter): "The Caillerets is the most ethereal wine in the Lafarge cellar this year, bursting from the glass with a projected bouquet of rose petal, peony, wild red berry fruit and a bass note of raw cocoa. On the palate the wine is only medium-full, with lots of energy and detail, its firm chassis of chalky tannins partially concealed by tangy fruit. This will be superb in the fullness of time. Drinking Window: 2026-2040. (Oct 2017)"

93 points Jasper Morris, MW: "Also lost half, unknown before. Medium deep colour, some fruit weight in a firmer style, some minerals, then a huge volume of fruit through the centre, covers the acidity and the tannins, but leaves a slightly raw finish."
