97+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2016 Morstein from Klaus-Peter Keller is a legend in the making. This too is only 12.5 percent alcohol and simply brilliant on both the nose and palate. The bouquet soars from the glass in a blaze of tangerine, sweet grapefruit, kaleidoscopic limestone minerality, just a whisper of petrol, citrus blossoms, a discreet touch of wild yeasts and a topnote of lemon zest. On the palate the wine is pure, deep, full-bodied and beautifully structured, with a rock solid core, crisp acids and stunning transparency taking over from the mid-palate back and utterly defining the wine on the very, very long and snappy finish. Magical young wine. 2030-2075. (Nov/Dec 2017)"

97+ points Mosel Fine Wines: "AP: 35 17. This develops a stunning even if still brooding nose of fresh pear, aniseed herbs, candied lemon, a hint of backed apple and tons of minerals. The wine is gorgeously focused and precise on the palate, where a delicately silky side driven by aromatic fruits is nicely framed by backward mineral elements. The finish is simply endless. This work in progress shows immense potential! 2026-2041. (Jan 2018)"

96 points Stuart Pigott (JamesSuckling.com): "Still pretty funky (reduction) this needs a couple of years, but it's very powerful and concentrated with the same sleek body as the other 2016 single vineyard dry rieslings from Keller. (8/28/17)"

94+ points Stephan Reinhardt (Wine Advocate): "The 2016 Morstein Riesling GG is deep and mineral on the nose, still pretty reductive and almost leathery but ripe, concentrated and intense. On the palate, this is a powerful, pure and tannic Riesling with good grip, fine tannins and lots of salt. Great tension and very powerful. This promising wine needs some years to show its class. It's rare so if you see the bottle in a restaurant, just buy it to store instead of drink or, even better, order two, one for now, the other for later. Drink: 2022-2040. (Oct 2017)"

94 points David Schildknecht (Vinous): "A powerful, high-toned nose suggests plum distillate, strongly intimating the pit piquancy that emerges on a glossy, glycerol-rich, expansive palate. Buddleia and rosemary flower also waft from the glass and then add inner-mouth allure. There is a remarkable sense of sap and energy to the long, gripping, piquant yet refreshingly limey, juicy finish. Here is another instance where it’s impossible for me to avoid imagining that an extra percentage of alcohol would have driven this highly impressive performance into overly spirituous and outright bitter territory. This year, Keller employed some of his newly acquired, ancient Mosel fuders for fermenting and aging his Morstein, and not surprisingly, he said, “I like the fit.” Drink: 2018-2032. (May 2018)"

19/20 points Michael Schmidt (JancisRobinson.com): "Minerality, fruit, herbs, spices, you name it, Keller’s Morstein has got it. But do not expect an exercise in opulence, as all components are delivered in subtle measures and do not compete, but rather complement each other. A delightful bouquet embraces the fragrance of local orchards as well as citrus fruit, fresh green herbs join sweet spices and a dusty mineral scent. Grapefruit, lemon and lime combine fruity expression with assertive acidity and a zesty tang of piquant peel. A hint of ginger gets the palate tingling, a stony minerality cools off the agitated taste buds. A truly great Riesling, pure and very dry, but too multi-faceted to call it austere. Drinking Window: 2017-2026. (8/21/17)"
