98+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "After the magnificent quality of the 2011 Morstein, I did not expect the Abtserde to hit the same exalted level, but it is every bit as complex and pure on both the nose and palate and even a touch longer on the finish! This is a brilliant wine in every respect, delivering a great bouquet of tangerine, petrol, blood orange, a very discreet touch of wild yeasts, lemongrass, kaleidoscopic, chalky minerality and a beautiful topnote of spring flowers with a bit of air. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and dancing, with a stunning core of fruit, gem-like precision to its focus, snappy, ripe acids and great balance and grip on the endless finish. An utterly profound young wine. 2020-2060. (Mar/Apr 2012)"

96 points David Schildknecht (Wine Advocate): "The initial impression garnered from Keller's 2011 Westhofener Brunnenhauschen - Abtserde Riesling Grosses Gewachs is somewhat severe and tight, but it rapidly opens with airing and warmth to reveal a dynamic interaction of deeply-etched, predominantly piquant scents and flavors: boxwood and rosemary; rowan, buddleia and heliotrope; apple and white peach with prominent pip and pit; grapefruit and kumquat with prominent zest; stone, salt, struck flint, and alkali. There's such energy and grip in the finish you think your mouth can't contain it! Yet there is at the same time a billowing, wafting sense of what can only be called capital "E" elegance. This remarkable wine should be enthralling to follow over the coming decade and beyond, and a bottle that had been open for a day was even more compelling than one freshly-opened. (Feb 2013)"

96 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "Riding shotgun, the 2011 Westhofener Brunnenhauschen Abtserde Riesling Grosses Gewachs is a completely different wine. This is razor-sharp on the Zen-like nose of Granny Smith apples, struck flint notes and citrus peel; you could almost describe it as uncompromising. The palate has a citric spine and tastes quite saline, with hints of orange peel. Harmonious, penetrating and ethereal, this is a brilliant Riesling from Keller, but one that you have to meet on its own terms. Drink: 2022-2042. (Feb 2022)"

95+ points Fine Wine Review: "The Abtserde GG is very pure and flowery in the nose --the limestone rock is showing here. The mouth is long, deep and nervous with plenty of focus. The wine reminds me of a Riesling as Jean-Marc Roulot, the great Meursault producer, would conceive it. (Issue #140; 2013)"

95 points Mosel Fine Wines: "AP: 55 12. The 2011er Abts E®, as it is referred to on the consumer label, comes from the prime Abtserde sector of the Westhofener Brunnenhäuschen vineyard. It offers a magnificently complex and refined nose of minty and aniseed herbs, white spices, candied grapefruit, citron, and yellow flowers. The wine starts on the fruity and subtle side on the palate, but develops more intensity, presence, and ripeness as it unfolds. These bigger elements are however beautifully framed by a fine ripe acidity and sense of tartness. The finish is intense and almost powerful but also focused and hugely long. This great dry Riesling will offer much pleasure for many more years! Now-2036+. (Apr 2021)"
