The 2019er Erdener Treppchen Riesling Spätlese ** was harvested at a full 108° Oechsle, and was fermented down to noble-sweet levels of residual sugar (111 g/l). It offers a great nose of anise, pear, yellow peach, smoke, herbs, and pineapple. The wine develops great presence on the palate, where delicately juicy flavors of peach, apricot, and fine honey make for the creamy and almost unctuous feel of an Auslese GK. The finish is superbly well-balanced and has more of a classic Auslese-styled cut and energy. This is a great and comparatively playful noble-sweet Riesling in the making. 2029-2049. (Aug 2020)"
