93 points Tim Atkin, MW: (Jan 2017)

91-93 points Stephen Tanzer (Vinous): "Bright, dark red. Ripe, expressive scents of cherry, flowers and menthol accented by blood orange; conveys an almost liqueur-like ripeness but comes across as utterly fresh. Silky, plush and full, with the wine's very ripe fruit suggestions leavened by mineral lift; ultimately more salty than chocolatey. The tannins arrive late and coat the front teeth. This fruit was picked at the beginning, with at least 13.5% potential alcohol, according to technical director Frédéric Barnier. (Jan 2017)"

90-93 points and 'Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "A pungent nose offers up notes of oak, menthol, spice and sandalwood on the mostly cassis and plum liqueur-suffused aromas. This is at once finer yet more powerful with a round and seductive mid-palate that contrasts markedly with the dusty, firm and youthfully austere finale. Good stuff with excellent upside development potential that could probably be approached on the younger side too. Drink: 2025+. (Apr 2017)"

89-93 points Fine Wine Review: "A negociant wine from purchased grapes, the Volnay-Sanenots has stony notes in the nose. The mouth is elegant for a young Santenots, but there are tannins here. The wine has dark fruits and some noble austerity. (2/11/17)"
