95 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): "At this stage of its evolution, this demonstrates lush dark plum and cassis fruit, with floral notes plus hints of smoke and spice. The texture is tannic and firm, with an impressive level of extract and a lingering, beautiful persistence on the finish. Jadot's hectare of the Clos St-Jacques, acquired in 1985 from the Clair-Daü family, has long been one of the jewels of its estate. It is located at the centre of the Clos, producing a wine of tremendous refinement and elegance. Jadot destems the grapes and ferments gently before ageing in cask (30% new). Drinking Window: 2025-2040. (Oct 2021)"

95 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com): "This is the most brooding of the four of five Clos Saint Jacques tasted for this report. It is singularly concentrated with tightly coiled black fruits: blackberries, sloe and black currants. The tannins are slightly coarse but not drying and will nicely melt into this boisterous wine in due time. The fresh current of acidity draws out the finale that shows some herbal uplift. 2025-38. (2022)"

95 points Bruce Sanderson (Wine Spectator): "A bright, well-defined red, this showcases cherry, raspberry and currant flavors shaded by earth and spice accents. Slim and fused to a taut structure, this is underlined by a ray of stony minerality. Overall, this has a cool, limestone austerity, with spice notes prevailing on the finish. Best from 2026 through 2047. (2/1/23)"

93-95 points William Kelley (The Wine Advocate): "The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Saint-Jacques (Domaine Louis Jadot) is shaping up brilliantly, wafting from the glass with aromas of raspberries and plums mingled with sweet spices, orange rind and peonies. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and concentrated, it's bright and precise, with a layered core of fruit and a long, penetrating finish. (Jan 2022)"

93-95 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Excellent full red colour. The bouquet really grows on me from a discreet start. A weight of more than raspberry, but without the extra acidity of loganberry, very juicy, a little barrel toast, length over and above its predecessors, and personality too. Very fine. (Nov 2021)"

93-95 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Saint-Jacques 1er Cru has a well-defined bouquet with crisp blackberry, briary, crushed stone and light eucalyptus aromas that blossom with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine acidity, fleshy and harmonious with a touch of spice towards its very cohesive and sustained finish. Classy. Drink: 2026-2055. (Dec 2021)"

92-94 points/'Don't miss!' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(100% from the Chambolle side that combines about one-third terres rouges and the remainder from terres blanches). Very generous wood and menthol nuances still allow the liqueur-like aromas of red currant, violet and range of spice elements to be appreciated. There is first-rate power and punch to the moderately dense and beautifully textured flavors that display superb length on the sappy finish where the only nit is a hint of warmth. Drink: 2037+. (Apr 2022)"

Bill Nanson (Burgundy Report): "(Domaine Louis Jadot). Even more width and more overtly perfumed too. Super in the mouth. Sometimes CSJ can be discreet – but not this one. Complex – fine-textured and very long. Bravo! (Dec 2021)"
