John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The aromatics here show just a touch of the heat of summer in its slightly roasted (like a 1990 red Burg) sheen to the notes of black cherries, black raspberries, a bit of plum, bitter chocolate, hung game, chalky soil tones and a floral topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and has a good core of fruit, with fine focus and grip, moderate backend tannins and a long, well-balanced finish. This is only 13.5 percent octane, so it is not an overripe wine by any stretch of the imagination, but it seems likely to always have a bit of that 1990-like personality. 2026-2050. (Nov/Dec 2019)"
