88-91 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from 9 parcels that total 1.9 ha). A more somber and reserved nose grudgingly displays a layered blend of both red and dark berries along with whiffs of violet and anise. The attractively textured, punch and well-detailed flavors terminate in a youthfully austere, balanced and sneaky long finale. Drink: 2024+ (April 2022)"

88-90 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "From eleven different plots, all below the 1ers crus, but close to them and covering the appellation from north to south. Fairly deep pink purple. The nose is quite reticent, but there is plenty there underneath. Some elegance despite the punchy modern style. Very good medium deep raspberry, clean and pure. (Dec 2020)"

'Good,' Steen Öhman (Winehog): "The Volnay village is an assembly of several plots: Les Aussy, Les Petits Gamets, La Gigotte, Les Buttes, Robardelles, Les Grands Poisots, En Echards and Les Combes are included. Glantenay produces two Volnay village cuvées: this, and a vieilles vignes – and there is quite a difference. The regular Volnay is showing well. Aged in 20% new oak, it is lively, fresh and delicate, coming from 20- to 60-year-old vines. Delightful juice. Drink from 2023. (1/6/21)"
