95 points/Outstanding, Cam Douglas, MS: "If you get the opportunity to visit the Calvert vineyard - and I hope you do - then the air and soil scents you can’t help but notice are the first two aromas of this wine - sweet air and a clay-sand- gravel soil smell. The rest of the bouquet is all pinosity and complexity with scents of rose, ripe cranberry and sweet red cherry, there’s also a savoury dried herb note adding further complexity and depth. On the palate - youthful, savoury, fruity and complex with a core of mineral and dried herb contrasted by ripe red fruit flavours. Tannins are fine and chalky, abundant and alongside the medium+ acidity - mouthwatering and just salty. The palate is long, focused and detailed. Great use of oak with just enough to notice adding flavour, texture and depth. Well made with best drinking from 2022 through 2032+. (7/4/20)"
92 points Rebecca Gibb, MW (Vinous): "This is a pup of a Pinot Noir, full of youthful vigor. In addition to its floral and cherry-infused nose, there is a bouquet garni of woody herbs, which could be partly explained by a 25% whole bunch component, as well as in-bunch variation, which was a signature of this vintage at Felton Road, according to winemaker Blair Walter. While silken and satisfying, there is an innate energy and this youthful expression has a brace of gravelly tannins that build toward the end. The sinewy, fragrant and fresh finish provides line and length. Far too young to be approaching. Give it a minimum of 2 years to get into its groove. Drink: 2022-2030. (Mar 2021)"
92 points Wine Spectator: "Dense, dark, brambly fruit flavors at the core expand to loam, white pepper, dried herb, tobacco and black tea notes and muscular tannins that firm up on the long finish, where all the elements find harmony. Drink now through 2032. 1,281 cases made, 91 cases imported. (2021)"
Producer notes: "The characteristic aromatic florality is finely supported by mineral and spice notes on the nose. It’s seamlessly followed by a detailed palate that emphasises precision and elegance. The tannins are evident, but intricately refined and polished. The ethereal mouthfeel echos the aromatic florality with a finesse that we have come to know as unreservedly Calvert."
