91-93 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Les Gruenchers 1er Cru, made from purchased fruit and matured in 50% new oak, has a well-defined bouquet of perfumed dark cherry, blueberry and light black currant fruit, becoming more floral with aeration. The oak here is nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp, crunchy tannin, a slightly chalky texture and fine delineation toward the finish. Very fine. Drink: 2020-2035. (Jan 2019)"
92 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "One of the highlights of the range is the 2017 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Gruenchers, a beautiful wine that bursts with notes of rose petals, orange rind, raspberries, cherries and licorice. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and melting, with juicy acids, supple tannins and a vibrant core of fruit. Drink: 2020-2035. (Nov 2019)"

From a tiny 0.21 hectare plot immediately adjacent to Carrières, this may be the fullest of the Chambolle 1ers, taking on an almost Vosne-like quality with its power and darker fruit qualities. Out of barrel this was tremendous and it is one I will personally be stocking up extra on in 2017. Four barrels produced.
