94 points Tim Atkin, MW (Decanter): "Even more complex than Sylvie Esmonin's straight Gevrey - and that is very impressive in its own right - this is made with fruit from parcels between 50 and 100 years' old and includes a little bit of Clos Prieur Premier Cru. Produced with 50% whole bunches and new wood, it's a highly ambitious village wine with remarkable fruit intensity, stylish oak and flavours of blueberry and liquorice supported by fresh acidity. Drinking Window: 2021-2028. (Oct 2019)"

90-93 points Jasper Morris, MW: "Dense red purple, this has a huge weight of fruit, starting with lively red and black notes on the nose then a sumptuous feast on the palate. This is Sylvie’s style and 2018 fits very well therein. Some grainy tannins help to stabilise the finish. Good length. (Nov 2019)"

90-92 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes is matured in 50% new oak with 60% whole-bunch fruit. I actually like the definition on the nose, which is intense but shows decent clarity, offering copious dark cherries, marmalade and blueberry aromas. The fresh palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, delivering dark cherry and black currant fruit laced with blood orange and white pepper and coming across quite citric on the finish. Good potential. Drink: 2022-2036. (Jan 2020)"
