Her 70-year-old vines are on the north side of the clos, by Les Cazetiers. Dark - almost black – in color, the wine smells strongly of new oak at first: bacon, spice rack, toast and fireplace cinders. As it warms up, black currants, elderberries and forest floor fill the glass. This has a long life ahead thanks to its gutsy intensity, reverberating energy and taut structure. Give it some time to develop in bottle. 2025-35. (2022)"

The bouquet is very backward at the moment. A huge wave of dark fruit washes over the palate, with surprising elegance given the exceptional power. This will remain a Sylvie style wine more than a classic Clos St-Jacques, but it will be lovely. (Nov 2021)"

Ripe and airy aromas are comprised by notes of poached plum, fresh tobacco, black cherry and a plenitude of floral nuances. There is fine richness to the notably finer but not necessarily denser medium-bodied flavors that exude a subtle bead of minerality on the powerful, serious, youthfully austere and built-to-age finale. This excellent effort is definitely going to need at least some cellaring before it's likely to be reasonably approachable. Drink: 2035+. (Jan 2023)"

In the mouth, very silky – mouth-filling, very classy wine – it’s not yet about the complexity of flavour but the stance of this wine is on the grand cru level – I expect a great wine. (Jan 2022)"
