92-95 points Fine Wine Review: "On the same quality level, the flagship Beaune-Clos des Mouches has stony aromas. The mouth is stony and elegant with good penetration, liveliness, structure, and length. It should be an excellent wine. Harvested 23-29 September. (Feb 2018)"

94+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "After getting pummeled by hail so often in recent vintages, I was very happy to hear that the Clos des Mouches missed most of the frost damage of 2016 and had a normal-sized and very high quality crop in this vintage. The Clos des Mouches Blanc is often of grand cru quality in my book and this is emphatically the case with the stunning 2016 version. The wine delivers a very refined aromatic constellation of lemon, apple, pear, chalky minerality, vanillin oak and a lovely, esthery topnote of bee pollen. On the palate the wine is pure, full and nascently complex, with marvelous mid-palate depth, laser-like focus and a very long, refined and vibrant finish. This is a stunning vintage of Clos des Mouches Blanc! (Drink between 2020-2045. (Nov/Dec 2017)"

93 points William Kelley (Decanter): "The Clos des Mouches is one of the highlights of the range of whites chez Drouhin this year, opening in the glass with aromas of yellow citrus, crisp orchard fruit and honeysuckle, framed by new oak. On the palate the wine is glossy, supple and intense, with lovely depth, excellent textural elegance, and a taut, chalky finish. Drinking Window: 2019-2033. (Oct 2017)"

92+ points Stephen Tanzer (Vinous): "Pale medium yellow. Peach and acacia flower dominate the nose, with notes of minerals and spices emerging with air. Quite round and sweet on entry, then rich and rather powerful in the middle palate, boasting terrific intensity and an element of salty minerality. Today the wine's fruit is slightly overshadowed by youthful oak but there's already a lot going on. Finishes sappy and long, with a firm edge that augurs well for the wine's future. I like the combination of ampleness and punch on display here and would hold this wine for at least a few years before pulling the cork. (25 hectoliters per hectare produced; 3.23 pH; 3.75 g/l acidity; there were no hail losses in 2016 but the severe spring frost reduced the yield). Drink: 2022-2032. (Feb 2019)"

92 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Tasted from bottle, the 2016 Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches Blanc bursts with a dramatic bouquet of honeyed peaches, yellow orchard fruit and ripe pear, framed by a delicate touch of toasty new oak. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with a rich, textural attack, moderate acids and an open-knit core, concluding with a pure and saline finish. The Clos des Mouches escaped the 2016 frosts and produced the largest crop Drouhin has harvested here since 2012, and the resulting wine is a surprisingly gourmand, front-loaded rendition of this venerable cuvée that will deliver a great deal of near- and mid-term pleasure, but it doesn't seem built for the long haul. Drink: 2018-2030. (Apr 2019)"
