98 points Stuart Pigott (JamesSuckling.com): "This defines high elegance. Everything you look for in a dry white wine with very fine aromas of white and yellow peaches, but also a thousand wild herbs and flowers. Enormous delicacy at the very long finish. From organically grown grapes. Fair'n Green certification. Drink or hold. (12/28/18)"

96 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2017 Hermannshöhle Grosses Gewächs is again, one of the very finest recent vintages of this bottling that I have had the pleasure to taste. The complex bouquet offers up a fine mélange of grapefruit, tart orange, citrus zest, a complex base of salty slate minerality, dried flowers, a touch of wild yeasts and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very sleek in profile out of the blocks, with a superb core of fruit, excellent mineral drive, bright acids and a very, very long, complex and perfectly balanced finish. Great juice. 2027-2075. (May/Jun 2018)"

95 points David Schildknecht (Vinou): "[$89 list] Thyme, marjoram, black tea, apple wood and pronounced pit-inflected white peach serve for pungent, smoky intrigue. As the wine takes on air, gentian adds a hauntingly bitter-sweet fragrance. The palate displays an improbably combination of richness, fleshiness and expansiveness with transparency to intricate herbal and diversely mineral impingements as well as conveying something I can only call poise. There is just enough succulence of white peach and brightness of lime to lend luscious appeal and animation while conveying a certain sense of restraint. The prodigious finishing flavors spread like a billowing carpet of herbs and bittersweet-perfume flowers strewn with stony crystals and saliva-inducing grains of mineral salts. This is not a powerful wine; but it is one that makes a powerful and profound statement and lucidly testifies to a great site. Incidentally, there are now typically four Stückfässer of this for a total volume of nearly 5,000 liters, far more than of any other Dönnhoff Grosse Gewächse. Drink: 2019-2030. (Apr 2019)"

94 points Stephan Reinhardt (Wine Advocate): "The 2017 Niederhäuser Hermannshöhle Riesling trocken –GG– combines ripe and intense fruit with flinty and floral notes as well as crushed slate aromas. Super refined and intense at the same time. Lush and intense on the palate, this is a full-bodied yet elegant, finessed and salty-piquant Hermannshöhle with a long and aristocratic finish. Impressive. Tasted at the domain in July 2019. Drink: 2020-2040. (Oct 2019)"

94 points Fine Wine Review: "Very fine peach nose. Medium-weight, intense peach, well-defined; good acidic support. (9/16/18)"
