86-89 points Fine Wine Review: "Michel Royer said that he began harvesting on 15 September for the Hautes Côtes de Nuits. All red wines were destemmed. Quantities were “normal" and overall a bit more than in 2018. The wines are good expressions for the vintage, offering pleasure for early and medium-term drinking while other vintages, such as 2015 and (what little there is of) 2016 mature in the cellars. The 2017 Bourgogne-Hautes Côtes de Nuits Pinot Noir shows excellent depth and freshness for its appellation with structure, cassis fruit, and good acidity. (4/24/19)"

Bill Nanson (Burgundy Report): "Michel Digioia always produces wines with some structure – so you should have patience – but the wines are fabulous after about 3 years and more... Always a first class address. The Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuitsis from Concoeur above Vosne, 52 years old vines with a limestone soil. 12-14 month elevage in barrel. 15% new oak. (Jan 2018)"

This is quite possibly our single best "value" red Burgundy on offer, hitting well above its class. Digioia-Royer's Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits comes from a single parcel planted in the 1950s at around 350 meters altitude. It has a much better defined and vibrant bouquet than the Bourgogne Rouge, the new oak nearly integrated with plenty of black cherry and blueberry fruit. Great acidity and structure with a clean and refreshing finish.
