93 points James Suckling: "This is very dry with apple, praline and pie-crust character. It’s full, layered and gorgeous with a lovely, creamy texture. The base is from the 2017 vintage, one third each of pinot noir, chardonnay and pinot meunier. 41% of reserve from previous years, such as 2016 and 2015. (4/28/21)"

92 points Tyson Stelzer (The Champagne Guide): "(2014 base vintage; disgorged October 2017; roughly 33% chardonnay, 33% pinot, 33% meunier; 100 wines from 20–30 crus across the Marne; 45% reserves from 2013 and 2012; aged 2.5 years on lees; 8g/L dosage; cork). Brut Classic is the barometer of Deutz, representing 80% of the volume of production, and the house gives it first priority. Even in the wake of steady growth, it remains as pure and true as ever, with a consistency built on a generous 45% of young reserves (more than the usual 20–40%). Consequently, this release steps beyond the classic realm of Deutz of quintessential, refreshing apéritif, presenting a full, fleshy and rich style in which reserves support the weaker 2014 base. The red apple signature of the label remains the hallmark, verging on baked apple, fleshy plum and rich layers of spice, even fruit mince spice. Pinot upholds a confident lead, fleshy and fuller than ever, with chardonnay cutting in on the finish to bring tension and acid drive. The complexity of bottle age makes it ready to drink right away, rich in nuances of nougat, brioche and honey. It finishes full and long, with well-integrated dosage, gentle bite and soft chalk minerality finding seamless balance. There is presence and flesh here, more than expected in the vivacious and subtle style that defines the signature of Deutz, yet no less confident for it. (2020-2021)"

91 points Wine Spectator: "Ripe apple, toast point, preserved lemon and honeycomb aromas and flavors lead the way in this elegant version. Featuring a lacy mousse and a bright spine of well-meshed acidity. The pretty flavor range transitions to chalky minerality on the finish. Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. Drink now through 2024. (11/15/21)"

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "In the delicate, elegant style that is the Deutz house hallmark, this Champagne is beautifully understated, with its balance and touches of toast in harmony. This bottling is ready to drink. Drink: 12%. (Dec 2021)"
