95 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The latest rendition of De Sousa’s Blanc de Blancs Mycorhize is showing brilliantly, offering up a complex bouquet of citrus oil, lemon curd, freshly baked bread and subtle hints of walnuts and stone fruit. Full-bodied, vinous and textural, it’s broad and concentrated, with a fleshy core of fruit, racy acids and a seamless, complete profile that’s enlivened by a pearly mousse. This is a fabulous effort that’s well worth seeking out. It's based on the 2016 vintage and was disgorged with three grams per liter dosage in April 2019. Drink: 2021-2035. (Sep 2021)"

94 points Tyson Stelzer (The Champagne Guide): "(2014 base vintage; disgorged July 2018; 100% chardonnay from the lieu-dit Les Hauts Nemery of 2 hectares in Avize; average vine age of over 60 years; wild fermented entirely in 225 barrels, 5% new; aged long in barrel for micro-oxygenation; 25% perpetual reserve; 3g/L dosage; 1212 bottles). Mycorrhizae is a micro fungus living on plant roots that metabolises the soil and helps the vines to ingest minerality. By only ploughing these vineyards by horse, the theory is that soil compaction is reduced and hence the roots achieve not only greater penetration, but increased oxygenation, which, in concert with elimination of chemical treatments, enhances mycorrhizal life. The family hopes that in time this will bring greater mineral character in their wines. The result already exemplifies the science to dramatic effect as the mineral, saline, iodine definition of Avize is accentuated in De Sousa’s exacting regime. True to its mantra it is deeply salt mineral in texture, the roots of these old vines boring deep into the ancient chalk, balancing the body and succulence of white peach and white nectarine and the spicy crunch of white grapefruit. The toasty complexity and spicy presence of barrel fermentation meets the body and presence of old-vine Avize chardonnay, held in well-harmonised balance in spite of its proportions, thanks to a finish of dynamic acidity. A cuvée of unique character, great presence, and enduring persistence, this is the finest Mycorhize from De Sousa yet. (2020-2021)"

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Celebrating the symbiosis between the roots and the soil, this biodynamically produced wine is pure Chardonnay from the producer's home village of Avize. It is tensely textured and strongly mineral, showing the effect of the chalk soil on the wine. Acidity and tight citrus suggest this bottling is young. It will be better from 2020. (12/31/19)"

93 points James Suckling: "Based on the 2014 vintage and disgorged in 2018, this has such impressive richness and power with a swathe of grilled almonds, lemon rind and pith, as well as grapefruit and grilled peaches. The palate has toasty and fleshy allure. Really packed with interest. Drink now. (9/2/19)"
