A strikingly pretty and overtly floral nose is both cool and elegant while discreetly reveals its aromas of spicy dark berries. The powerful and tautly muscular broad-shouldered flavors brim with sappy dry extract while the intensely saline finish is chiseled and hugely long. The vines are now 55 years old and all the fruit is fermented as whole clusters. Despite a vigorous extraction, the wine is a very different style than in Hubert’s day, with an elegant, lifted cherry fruit, and notes of earth and wild herbs. On the palate, there is tension and tannin, but the lasting impression is one of subtlety and elegance. Drinking Window: 2024-2039. (Oct 2020)"
