93-96 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "This comes from the plot just north of that belonging to the Hospices de Beaune, and has been vinified as 100% whole cluster. Dark purple with a lighter rim. Seamless perfect ripeness of fruit. Then a little oak sweetness behind, but builds up beautifully to a really long, high class, ripe summer pudding finish. (Oct 2020)"

92-95 points/'Sweet spot/Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(100% whole clusters). A strikingly pretty and overtly floral nose is both cool and elegant while discreetly reveals its aromas of spicy dark berries. The powerful and tautly muscular broad-shouldered flavors brim with sappy dry extract while the intensely saline finish is chiseled and hugely long. This is outstanding though note well that it is very much built-to-reward extended patience. Drink: 2036+. (Jun 2021)"

92-94 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2019 Pommard Les Rugiens 1er Cru has the finest bouquet of the four Pommards tasted, the 100% whole cluster seamlessly integrated into the more black than red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip on the entry, classic in style, with touches of Earl Grey infusing the finish. Cohesive and very persistent, this is an excellent and quite noble Les Rugiens. Drink: 2024-2045. (Dec 2020)"

93 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): "TThis particular plot of Rugiens-Bas was a particular favourite of Hubert de Montille. The vines are now 55 years old and all the fruit is fermented as whole clusters. Despite a vigorous extraction, the wine is a very different style than in Hubert’s day, with an elegant, lifted cherry fruit, and notes of earth and wild herbs. On the palate, there is tension and tannin, but the lasting impression is one of subtlety and elegance. Drinking Window: 2024-2039. (Oct 2020)"
