93-96 points Jasper Morris, MW: "Two thirds old vines. This has been racked and returned to barrel. A brisk core of full concentrated red purple. Hugely concentrated, firm tannins, more new oak, so altogether a bigger structure. Impressively weighty but also light on its feet. Great potential for the long term. (Oct 2019)"

95 points Tim Atkin, MW (Decanter): "When people think of a classic Pommard, they invariably point to Les Rugiens-Bas, widely regarded as the village's Grand Cru in waiting. This is a structured, savoury, typically ferrous expression of the terroir that sees 66% whole clusters and 40% new wood. Firm yet not rustic in the slightest, it has lots of spicy weight and damson and red fruit intensity. Drinking Window: 2024-2035. (Oct 2019)"

92-94 points and 'Sweet spot/Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(66% whole clusters). Once again, the wood influence is subtle though not imperceptible on the slightly cooler aromas of lavender, violet, rose petal, red and dark cherry and a whiff of plum liqueur. There is excellent volume to the solidly concentrated and intensely mineral-driven flavors that possess evident muscle and power on the firm, serious and complex finale that is also clearly built-to-age. In a word, impressive. Drink: 2035+. (Apr 2020)"

92-94 points Fine Wine Review: "Smoky nose. Medium-weight, elegant for Rugiens, dark fruits, a serious wine. 2/3 whole cluster, almost 40% new oak. (11/24/19)"

91-93 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2018 Pommard Les Rugiens-Bas 1er Cru, which includes two-thirds whole clusters, has a well-defined and complex bouquet, a cousin of the Pezerolles in some ways. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins, displaying a little more matière and slightly creamier in texture than the Les Pezerolles, leading to a precise, persistent, slightly more opulent finish. Very fine indeed. Drink: 2022-2038. (Jan 2020)"
