95 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2017 Chablis La Forest 1er Cru is a standout and one of the wines that brings together so many of the best elements of the Dauvissat house style. A Chablis of marvelous contrasts, the Forest is at once light on its feet and also packed with notable intensity. At the same time, the Forest is mysterious and not ready to show all of its cards yet. There is so much to look forward to. The Forest emerges from eight parcels spread across 3.7 hectares, Dauvissat's largest holding. I imagine the diversity of these micro-parcels goes a long way in giving the wine dimension and complexity. Drink: 2022-2037. (Jan 2020)"
95 points (17.5/20) La Revue du Vin de France (2020).
94-95 points James Suckling: "Has a very strong, flinty yellow grapefruit and lime-leaf edge with a waxy, steely mineral core, making it a really exciting nose. There’s additional depth here, from white peppery minerals to chalk. Super fine and tight. This has a scintillatingly pure, fresh and powerful with a richer texture powered by very strong acidity. Exceptional. (8/31/18)"
93-95 points Jasper Morris, MW: "Pale colour, exceptionally complex nose, the blue clay playing its part. Displaying a meaty aspect, this has a power on the palate that knocks even Montée de Tonnerre into the shade. But it is not luxuriantly flamboyant. Tasted: May 2018. (May 2018)"
94 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "It was the lower portion of the slope in la Forest that was frosted in Monsieur Dauvissat’s holdings in this excellent premier cru, but the wine does not show any of the overly concentrated aspects that certain 2017s from frosted-vineyards show in this vintage. Rather, the wine is very pure, precise and classical in profile and an absolutely beautiful wine in the making. The bouquet soars from the glass in a lovely combination of green apple, grapefruit, flinty minerality, dried flowers, just a whisper of vanillin oak and a youthful topnote of citrus peel. On the palate the wine is deep, full and nicely reserved in personality, with outstanding mid-palate depth, excellent mineral drive, snappy acids and impeccable balance on the very long and nascently complex finish. A great vintage of la Forest. 2023-2060. (Nov/Dec 2018)"
94 points Bruce Sanderson (Wine Spectator): "Lemon drop aromas and flavors lead off in this complex, flinty white, joined by apple and mineral notes. This is balanced and builds to a long, intense, stone-infused aftertaste. Best from 2020 through 2028. 130 cases imported. (12/15/19)"
93 points and 'Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "This is aromatically cooler than the Vaillons with its airy combination of algae, lemon rind and wet stone where the latter element can also be found on the sleek, intense and energetic middle weight plus flavors that are a bit finer than usual, all wrapped in a bone dry and aggressively mineral-driven finale. A classic tightly coiled La Forest that is clearly built-to-age. Drink: 2029+. (Oct 2019)"
