96 points Tim Atkin, MW (Decanter): "Living up to Taillepieds' reputation as one of Volnay's very best premiers crus, this old-vine cuvée from a steep 1.05ha parcel on white clay and limestone soils is a revelation. Amazingly fresh and vibrant, it's a Pinot lover's Pinot Noir, with the texture, brightness and sense of wonder that make Burgundy so special. Drinking Window: 2025-2032. (Oct 2018)"

92-94 points and 'Sweet spot,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(froma 1.07 ha parcel of 35+ year old vines). Here the reticent nose is at once ripe yet cool with a lovely layered quality to the mix of violet, spice, dark berry liqueur and Asian-style tea aromas. The super-sleek, intense, mineral-driven and refined medium weight flavors that culminate in a very serious, youthfully austere and built-to-age finish that just goes on and on. A classic Taillepieds that will require extended patience. Drink: 2032+. (Apr 2019)"

92-94 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2017 Volnay Les Taillepieds 1er Cru has perhaps the most 'airy' bouquet, it is very transparent at the moment, but the palate is much tighter and backward. There is good backbone here, but it is sulking and it is probably one of the Domaine’s wines that will require the longest bottle age. It has an almost Pommard-like austerity towards the finish. Excellent but one of the more challenging wines from the domaine. Drink: 2023-2045. (Jan 2019)"

91-94 points Jasper Morris, MW: " Clear intense noble purple. The fruit also is heightened. A touch of new oak shows. The cooler hillside looks good. This has the quintessential elegance of Volnay in a fresher style, with a linear core of intensity, purple fruit alpine strawberry and raspberry. Tasted: November 2018."

93 points Bruce Sanderson (Wine Spectator): "A silky, polished version, delivering cherry, raspberry, rose and stone flavors. Firms up on the back end, with a layer of dusty tannins. Shows fine balance overall, leading to a long, spicy finish. Best from 2022 through 2035. (2020)"
