Freisa is a relative of Nebbiolo and native to the hills around Asti. The grape is packed full of sumptuous tannin, rushing acidity and can be used in a range of styles from fizzy and semi sweet to brooding and tannic. This juicy yet structured red. 'Aris' is made from a single hectare, south facing vineyard, sliced into the woods at 280 metres above sea level. The wine is aromatically rich and complex with a palate awash with grippy tannin and a bitter herb finish. Rose perfume, herbs and tart cherry are woven together. Chalky tannin lays the framework for a juicy, mid weight palate that reflects the nose.
