94 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): "Explosive cherry and blackberry fruit, with a supple, silky and round texture balanced by a lively freshness. This Volnay is a wine of tremendous energy and vigour, produced exclusively from the young vines of Santenots-du-Milieu, farmed organically. The exuberant fruit is destemmed and given a traditional fermentation with both punching down and pumping over before ageing in cask (one-third new). Drinking Window: 2023-2040. (Nov 2021)"

91-93 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Aromas of cherries, sweet berries, spices and forest floor preface the 2020 Volnay Village, a medium to full-bodied, layered and attractively concentrated, vibrant wine that's derived, as usual, from younger vines in Les Santenots (planted in 2002 and 2015). (Jan 2022)"

89-91 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2020 Volnay Village comes from the younger vines in Santenots. Red berry fruit, hints of graphite and sous-bois unfold on the nose - fine precision here. The palate is well balanced with fine definition. This underwent a racking just before harvest to open the wine up and it is expressive, quite fleshy towards the finish with red plum and raspberry fruit. Good length. This should age well. Bottled under Diam 30. Closure: Diam 30. Drink: 2024-2040. (Dec 2021)"

89-91 points/'Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(exclusively from young vines 1er fruit). exclusively from young vines 1er fruit). A more floral and slightly higher-toned nose offers up an array of various red berries, anise and equally discreet warm earth wisps. The supple, round and delicious medium weight flavors possess good richness that contrasts somewhat with the dusty, even chalky and youthfully austere finale. This is quite good for its level and a wine that should repay 6 to as many as 10 years of keeping. Drink: 2027+. (Apr 2022)"

90+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "Happily, despite the very short red grape yields in 2020, the Volnay villages bottling was produced in this vintage. This is made up entirely from younger vine parcels in the Santenots du Milieu premier cru vineyard, which were replanted in 2002 and 2005, so these vines are now starting to reach a good age. The wine is quite lovely, offering up fine purity on the nose in its mix of dark berries, cassis, bitter chocolate, a fine base of dark soil tones, woodsmoke and a lovely touch of currant leaf in the upper register. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied and nicely soil-driven, with a good core of black fruit, ripe, suave tannins and a long, tangy and complex finish. This is a lovely villages bottling. 2030-2065. (Nov/Dec 2021)"
