93 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): "This village Volnay is produced from the younger vines in Lafon’s superb, 4ha holding in Santenots-du-Milieu. The bunches are destemmed and macerated, prior to being fermented with as many whole berries as possible in stainless and aged for two winters in cask, one-third new. The result has a fragrant, plummy fruit and a super-rich texture, with plenty of substance and a delightfully lively freshness. Drinking Window: 2024-2039. (Oct 2020)"

90-93 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Made from the younger vines of Volnay Santenots. No deeper in colour than the Monthelie, but there is perhaps a touch more fruit concentration on the nose. Beautifully graceful, cherry and raspberry, plenty of detail, and a long graceful finish. (Oct 2020)"

90-92 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "Coming from the young vines in Santenots, the 2019 Volnay Village has a lovely perfumed bouquet, a mixture of blueberry and crushed strawberry fruit. The palate is well balanced, very lithe and feminine, with fine-boned tannins and a lilting finish that you almost glug down now. Utterly charming. Drink: 2022-2032. (Dec 2020)"

90-92 points/'Outstanding/Top value,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(exclusively from young vines 1er fruit). A discreet application of wood frames the aromas of ripe plum, dark currant and violet. The sleeker and more tightly focused medium-bodied flavors exude evident minerality on the lingering finish that is shaped by fine-grained tannins. This offers excellent quality for a villages-level wine. Drink: 2026+. (Apr 2021)"
