96+ points Stephan Reinhardt (Wine Advocate): "Aged on the lees for 28 months, the 2017 Marienburg Rothenpfad Reserve is clear, pure and fresh on the young and crystalline nose. It's pure and less tropical or fruit intense than the 2018 and 2019 at this stage. Full-bodied yet pure and refined on the palate, this is a rich and intense yet also saline and crystalline Rothenpfad that is slowly opening up and has the austere, pure, fresh mineral character like a young GG. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in July 2022. Drink: 2026-2060. (Aug 2022)"

96 points Ulrich Sautter (Falstaff): "A whiff into a spice box, Annapurna curry powder and then some incense, followed by a fresh fruity scent of pineapple. Taut and vertical on the palate, firm acid backbone, subtle texture, no isolated sweetness. Intensely mineral and very enigmatic, and immensely young. (11/23/20)"

94 points Mosel Fine Wines: " AP: 06 20. The 2017er Marienburg Rothenpfad Réserve, as it is referred to on the main part of the label, was fermented spontaneously in traditional oak casks from fruit harvested in an iron-rich part of the Marienburg vineyard and was left on its gross lees for 24 months before being bottled (hence the late AP number). It offers a beautiful nose made of pear, bergamot, mirabelle, licorice, smoke, and spices, all wrapped into a dash of grapefruit and minty herbs. The wine is nicely packed with fruity and spice flavors on the full-bodied palate and leaves a beautifully playful feel in the long and persistent finish. The after-taste is hugely complex and elegant. This wine really reveals itself after some airing and develops more cut and freshness by the minute. 2022-2032. (Oct 2020)"
