99 points Stuart Pigott (JamesSuckling.com): "Essence of Mosel wine here, which immediately conjures up an image of tiny riesling grapes that have turned a perfect golden color in the autumn sun. Then, on the extremely rich and refined palate, comes a gigantic wave of minerality that sweeps you away. Enormously long finish of almost overwhelming beauty. Just doesn't want to stop. From biodynamically grown grapes with Respekt certification. Drink or hold. (9/23/21)"

98 points Stephan Reinhardt (Wine Advocate): "The 2019 Marienburg Raffes is very complex, refined and elegant on the open and intense nose that indicates perfectly ripe, dense and concentrated fruit with a fascinating flintiness of crushed rocks and salt. Round and lush on the palate, this is another full-bodied and intense yet pure and refined, enormously complex and elegant Riesling with enormous power, elegance and finesse. Highly impressive, the opulence of this terroir comes along with so much purity, finesse and balance and gives this unique umami texture in the sharp and precise world of Clemens Busch. The Raffes is not really dry but at least dry-styled and otherwise perfectly round. Tasted at the domain in September 2020. (Oct 2020)"

96 points Ulrich Sautter (Falstaff): "It is clear that the Raffes is somewhat fruitier on the nose than wines from the Felsterrasse. On the palate, the same concentrated intensity, but with a harmonious balance between the fruit and acidity. Persistent, delicately sweet, masterful. (11/15/21)"

95 points Stephen Reinhardt (The World of Fine Wine): "This is a fascinating, deep, pure yet also rich and spicy-mineral Riesling, with a coolish yet generous, complex, and elegant soul, as well as ripe and stewed mirabelle aromas. Full-bodied, intense, and salty from start to finish, this is a pure, highly finessed and elegant yet also intense and sustainable dry, energetic Riesling, with fine phenolics and a lingering salty acidity. This fascinating Riesling combines a warm climate with a cool and deep terroir. Although this impressive wine already tastes beautiful, it can also age for at least 20 years. 2021–45. (3/16/22)"

94 points Mosel Fine Wines: "AP: 38 20. The 2019er Marienburg Raffes, as it is referred to on the main part of the label, is a just off-dry wine (with 10 g/l of residual sugar) fermented spontaneously in traditional oak casks from late-harvested fruit in a prime terraced part of the grey-slated Falkenlay sector and which underwent an extended maturation on its lees. It offers a superbly complex nose made of pear, herbs, bergamot, whipped cream, chalky minerals, white flowers, and wet stone. The wine is subtly dry-tasting (and not fully off-dry) on the intense and delicately ample yet zesty palate and leaves a superb feel of fresh orchard fruits, wet stone, whipped cream, and herbs in the long and incredibly persistent finish. This gorgeous dry-tasting Riesling is hugely promising in a spicy and zesty style. 2024-2039. (Oct 2020)"
