93-96 points Fine Wine Review: "This wine is the pure with the smooth Cailles texture and more concentration and density than any of the previous wines. There are red and dark fruits, and as usual here, finesse for Nuits. (2/14/19)"

95 points Tim Atkin, MW (Decanter): "Les Cailles is one of the Chevillon brothers' best parcels, planted in the 1930s on a stony site next to Les St-Georges. It's an impressive red showing stony minerality, some vanilla spice and more underlying tannin than you think at first. The acidity drives the finish of the wine. Drinking Window: 2024-2030. (Nov 2018)"

95 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Cailles has turned out beautifully, wafting from the glass with scents of sweet berries and plums mingled with blood orange, peonies and raw cocoa. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, with a deep core of fruit, exquisitely refined tannins, lively acids and a long, perfumed finish, it's a magical bottle from Chevillon, and I'm happy to have a case in my cellar. Drink: 2025-2055. (Jan 2021)"

94+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2017 les Cailles from Bertrand Chevillon is a stunning wine in the making. The already quite beautiful bouquet delivers a superb and absolutely classic blend of cherries, plums, raw cocoa, a very complex base of minerality, gamebird, woodsmoke and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and properly reserved out of the blocks, with a great core of sappy fruit, beautiful soil signature, ripe, seamless tannins and great length and grip on the focused, perfectly balanced and oh, so promising finish. All this great wine needs is time in the cellar to fully blossom! 2028-2065+. (Nov/Dec 2018)"

92-94 points Jasper Morris, MW: "Dense centre to this brilliant purple. The nose has a black fruit tension, so too the palate, does not quite fill the whole mouth because more linear in style. Lots of stones here to explain that. Some tannins. Tasted: November 2018."

92-94 points and 'Sweet spot/Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a 1.12 ha parcel of 75+ year old vines). As is virtually always the case, this is more aromatically elegant and spicier and in 2017 the nose of essence of raspberry, cherry, violet and soft herbal tea notes is also notably spicier. There is excellent richness and a highly beguiling vibrancy to the well-detailed and stony medium-bodied flavors that deliver a lovely combination of punch and finesse on the sneaky long finish. In sum, this beautifully well-balanced effort is Zen-like. Drink: 2032+. (Jan 2019)"

93 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Cailles 1er Cru has a focused bouquet of dark cherries with blueberry and briary touches and well-integrated oak. The medium-bodied palate delivers sappy blackberry and raspberry fruit, fine delineation and good grip. Quite spicy and peppery toward the finish. This is a vivacious Nuits Saint-Georges with plenty of matière . Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting. Drink: 2023-2042. (Jan 2022)"
