95 points/'Cellar Selection,' Wine Enthusiast: "This wine currently is all about structure. It has power and weight as well as ripe jammy red fruits. The tannins and opulent fruit speaking to the wine's enormous potential. Drink from 2026. Alcohol 13.5%. (Dec 2018)"

94+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2016 Bressandes from Chandon de Briailles was raised in twenty percent new oak in this vintage and, like all of the Maréchaudes, included eighty percent whole clusters in 2016. The wine is a stunning bottle, delivering a pure and classic constellation of red and black cherries, pigeon, coffee, complex, stony soil tones, lovely spice elements and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and complex, with a sappy core, great transparency, fine-grained tannins and a long, poised and beautifully focused finish. A great Corton! 2026-2080. (Nov/Dec 2017)"

94 points William Kelley (Decanter): "The Corton-Bressandes was cropped at a fairly low yield of 22hl/ha in 2016 and fermented with 100% whole cluster fruit. The incipiently complex bouquet offers up notes of ripe plum, spice, bitter orange, dried flowers and forest floor, followed on the palate by a full-bodied, richly structured wine with a deep core of fruit, supple tannins and a lovely sense of energy through the long and penetrating finish. The generous mid-palate of Bressandes is already expressive, and like the Maréchaudes this seems to be a relatively precocious rendition of this cuvée, which may be bottled after Christmas if it clarifies sufficiently, says de Nicolay. Drinking Window: 2026-2050. (Oct 2017)"

91-94 points Stephen Tanzer (Vinous): "($225 list; a blend of four lots; the vines on the Aloxe side of the cru, on thin soil over mother rock, were seriously affected by frost while those on more clay-rich soil on the Ladoix side produced a normal crop; 80% vendange entier): Bright red-ruby. Distinctly dark aromas of blackberry and cassis lifted by violet and mint nuances and complicated by a saline element. Ripe but classically dry, offering terrific density of texture as well as more thrust than the Maréchaudes. This wine is totally different in shape, finishing with broader, firmer, almost peppery tannins that dust the front teeth. Flavors of dark fruits and spices linger impressively. I suspect that this wine will need considerably longer cellaring than the Maréchaudes. (Jan 2018)"

93 points Jasper Morris (Inside Burgundy): "Rich bright purple, massive glycerol legs, frisky yet with a solid core. Slightly green tannins from the stems (50% whole bunch) may put some consumers off, though that does not matter as they will integrate really well. Thickly concentrated aftertaste. There is huge potential here. Tasted: July 2019."

93 points Bruce Sanderson (Wine Spectator): "Dark and inviting, this red fills a lush texture with black cherry, blackberry, iron, tar and spice flavors. Dense and muscular, winding down with echoes of fruit and spice. Solidly built and well-proportioned. Best from 2023 through 2035. 312 cases made, 60 cases imported. (5/31/19)"
