93 points Decanter: "A few years ago the large Marchesi di Barolo property acquired Cascina Bruciata in Barbaresco, which is the source of this Riserva. Rio Sordo has light limestone soils that give elegant wines, and Bruciata's parcel has 60-year-old vines. The nose displays a robust raspberry and cherry nose, while the palate is suave but very concentrated. Although not very expressive now, its powerful structure is carried by bold tannins, delivering a wine that's imposing, long, and built to last. Drinking Window: 2021-2040 (Jan 2020)"

93 points James Suckling: "A 2015 Barbaresco with solid density of fruit, firm and chewy tannins and juicy, savory character. It’s full-bodied and lightly chewy with ripe tannins and a flavorful finish. From organically grown grapes. Needs time to soften, but I like its dynamic nature. Drink after 2022. (Jul 2021)"

92 points Monica Larner (Wine Advocate): "The Cascina Bruciata 2015 Barbaresco Riserva Rio Sordo (made with certified organic fruit) offers a rich, full-throttle interpretation of Nebbiolo from a warm and sunny vintage. The wine is powerful and bold, with noticeably more concentration and richness compared to many of the wines from nearby vineyard sites in Barbaresco. This is a hearty wine with a loosely knit texture and some finely grained tannins. I'd suggest a near-term drinking window (maybe the next 10 years) in order to capture some of that plummy dark fruit before it fades away. Some 3,500 bottles hit the market at the end of May 2020. Drink: 2021-2033 (Jul 2020)"

91 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "[$98 list] The 2015 Barbaresco Riserva Rio Sordo from Cascina Bruciata is laced with amarena cherry, mocha, spice, licorice and cloves. The darker side of Nebbiolo comes through loud clear. This is a pushed, extracted style, that is obvious, but the 2015 has just enough softness in its contours to be approachable pretty much upon release. For my palate, the 2015 is a bit heavy handed. Drink: 2020-2038 (Oct 2020)"
