Anne Krebiehl, MW (The Wines of Germany): "Bürklin-Wolf was instrumental in creating the world-class reputation of the Mittelhaardt... [and it] is still in family hands... Wines were made in an uncompromisingly dry style and as early as 1994 the single sites were labelled PC (premier cru) and GC (grand cru), according to the Royal Bavarian Classification of 1828. In 2005 the entire estate was converted to biodynamics, achieving certification in 2008... The wines are dry and textured, a joy, paradigms of balance that will age effortlessly. (2019)"
The Wine Atlas of Germany (2014) denotes Forst Ungeheuer as among the top 10 "exceptional" vineyards in the Pfalz, boasting one of the driest and warmest exposures in the village. The Rieslings from here are described as "robust... marked by clay and lime in combination with traces of rosewater and clove... expressive fruit, good aging potential."
