90-92 points Neal Martin (Wine Advocate): "The 2016 Volnay Clos de la Cave includes 50% whole bunch fruit this year. Matured in 15% new oak, it showed a little CO2 on the nose, but there is plenty of ebullient red fruit stacked behind it—strawberry and cranberry, touches of sous-bois. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, elegant in the mouth with hint of Earl Grey and spice, gently fanning out on a composed, quite structured finish. This is in the same class as the 2015 Clos de la Cave. Drink: 2020-2030. (Dec 2017)"
89-92 points Fine Wine Review: "The Volnay, Clos de la Cave has dark fruit aromas and flavors with minerality, medium-weight, and good acidity, length, and structure. 50% whole clusters here. The vines date from five different periods; the youngest are 20 years-old, the oldest 90 years-old, and the average is 45-50 years. (Feb 2018)"
