95 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Bouley considers the 2018 Pommard 1er Cru Les Fremiers to be the finest wine in his range and chided me that—from barrel—I'd rated his Rugiens a touch higher. From bottle, I agree with him, and I intend to report on a vertical tasting of this notably under-the-radar cuvée next year. Unwinding in the glass with notes of peonies, orange rind, plums, wild berries and cinnamon, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and layered, with terrific depth and concentration, lively acids and beautifully refined structuring tannins. Long and penetrating, this is worth a special effort to seek out. Drink: 2026-2055. (Jan 2021)"
91-94 points Jasper Morris, MW: "Just below Rugiens-bas. Light red soil. Medium deep crimson in colour, with quite a lifted nose, some whole bunch I think - 50% stems it turns out. Deep dark cherries, prettily perfumed, helps provide energy all the way through. Fine long finish. Interestingly, the stems take away the Pommard and leave the Fremiers! (Dec 2019)"
