92+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2018 Côte de Brouilly “Cuvée Mélanie” from Daniel Bouland comes in listed at 13.5 percent octane and offers up a beautifully deep and complex bouquet of black cherries, sweet dark berries, bonfire, gamebird, a touch of fresh herbs, a lovely base of stony soil tones and a fine note of currant leaf in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and sappy at the core, with excellent focus and balance, modest tannins and a long, tangy and complex finish that closes with excellent grip and lift. This is certainly approachable today, but this is a wine that is going to age very long and gracefully and I would be tempted to tuck it away in the cellar and really let it blossom with five to ten years of bottle age! 2020-2050. (Jan/Feb 2020)"
92 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Aromas of smoky berry fruit, cassis, spices and candied peel introduce the 2018 Côte de Brouilly Cuvée Melanie, a medium to full-bodied, succulent and fleshy wine that's layered and incisive, remaining fresh and lively despite its impressive mass and volume. Thanks to its perfectly mature tannins, this is unusually approachable out of the gates. Drink: 2020-2033. (Aug 2019)"
